Frequently Asked Questions

Does the facility smell bad?

Plasco MSW Storage Building:

All of the waste delivered to the facility is stored for less than 48 hours in a fully enclosed steel building, with doors that are kept closed except when trucks enter or leave. The floor is washed down every day. In commercial facilities the storage building is kept at negative pressure so that odours do not escape.

Is the facility noisy?

Plasco facilities are quiet:

A Plasco facility is not a noisy or disruptive addition to any community. Standing in the middle of a Plasco facility the loudest noise you could hear is that of a garbage truck dropping off Municipal Solid Waste to our Storage Building. In fact, walking through our facility the loudest recorded noise measured 70 decibels, which is quieter than an average neighborhood.

Where is your Demonstration facility located?

Is Plasco a public company?

Plasco’s Corporate Structure:

Plasco is a privately held Canadian corporation. Shares or options are not available. There are currently no plans to take the company public.

What is the size of a Plasco Facility?

Plasco Facility Sizing:

Plasco facilities start at 200 tonnes per day and can be as large as required to deal with local waste quantities in 100 tpd increments. Since Plasco facilities are quiet and not harmful to the environment, municipalities will often choose to distribute multiple smaller facilities throughout a city in order to reduce trucking by dealing with waste closer to where it is created.

Plasco facilities are assembled from multiple identical 100 tonne-per-day modules. Therefore, a 400 tpd facility has four modules of 100 tpd each. There is no scale-up risk. The parallel modules mean operation can continue while maintenance is performed on one module at a time.

How much land does a Plasco facility require?

Land Requirements for a Facility:

A typical 200 tonne-per-day facility requires a four acre site. Every additional 100 tonne-per-day module requires an additional acre of land. Therefore, a 400 tpd facility requires six acres.

Can I take a tour of your Facility?

How many jobs does a facility generate?

Jobs at Plasco Facilities:

What does a Plasco facility convert waste into?

For each tonne of waste processed a Plasco facility will produce:

  • 2600 Nm3 of PlascoSyngas (LHV of 4.85MJ/Nm3)
  • 150 kg of construction aggregate
  • 300 L of potable quality water
  • 5-10 kg of commercial grade salt
